Publication registration

ABOUT RESEARCH REGISTRATION

All researchers at Aalborg University are required to register research in the publication registration system Pure, at least once a year (deadline in December). Your research is then displayed through the VBN Research Portal. 

Besides research publications and projects, you are encouraged to register other research activities (e.g. conferences, peer-reviewing, awards or committee work). Likewise, it is possible to view the academic production and activities of the entire department and each research team. Most Danish press clippings are imported automatically.

• Go to Pure login (the system behind Aalborg University's Research Portal, VBN)
• Check if all your published research from 2024 has been registered in Pure/VBN (make sure that the “Workflow Status” is changed to “For approval”).
• Check if you have filled in all mandatory information
  • Publication date
  • Title
  • Authors/Co-authors and their affiliation(s), including external organisations of external authors
  • If some of the co-authors are former or current students, they must be added to the publication as internal authors ( write an email to: researchregistration@cs.aau.dk and we will see to this).
  • Journal/Publisher/Book series
  • DOI
  • If Open Access publication: upload the PDF of the final published version, set “Access” to “Open” and insert CC-license.
  • Paywalled publication: upload a PDF of the Accepted Author Manuscript. Set “Access” to “Unknown” and it will not appear in the portal. An administrator will check for Open Access options. (In accordance with Aalborg University’s Open Access policy).
  • Volume, Issue – if it is a publication in a journal.
  • ISBN – if it is a book, book chapter etc.
  • Conference publications – please remember to fill in information under “Event” + link to the conference

  NB: Please note that an Open Access Guide has been integrated in Pure/VBN, making it easier to report OA. The tool in Pure pops up when you add a journal, showing Open Access policies (e.g. embargo, green OA-options) for the publication.

  NB: Please notice that affiliated organisations are automatically set to your current internal ones. If the publications are from a former place of employment, you must remove the affiliation to internal organisations (department, faculty and research group).
