As most of you will know by now, new CS teaching norms will take effect as of autumn 2023. Here are the most significant changes:
- The course norm will change from 190 hours per course + exam hours to 140 hours per course as the basis norm + 0,8 hours per student incl. examinations and re-examinations.
- The project/supervision norm will change from 1 hour per ECTS point to 0,9 hour per student. In more practical terms, this means that for a project typically averaging 15 ECTS points, 13,5 hours will be registered compared to previously 15 hours.
For a full overview, check CS norms and capacities on the intranet.
As before, you will use CS Hours to check your hours. As communicated by Peter Axel in his mail of May 31, the way we keep track of delivered hours will not change. Also, CS Hours holds the sum of the accumulated hours of teaching and administration since the department started counting hours in 1989.
New deadlines
Two important new deadlines are introduced. By March 1 for the spring semester and October 1 for the autumn semester, a student count will be conducted to calculate your delivered hours during the semester.
This means that by March 1 and October 1, you must report anything that may affect your teaching load calculation.
If, for example, you have shared a course or project supervision with another teacher, you should report the relative workload; otherwise, it will be registered as 50/50. Also, if you have been on leave, or any other individual agreement affecting your capacity has been entered, it should be reported.
Your input should be mailed to hours@cs.aau.dk.
You will be notified when the result of the capacity and hours calculation is available, which will be in mid-April and mid-November, respectively.
