This year, more precisely on 1 August, Study Administrator Ulla Øland could look back on 25 years as a member of the AAU staff. The first year at the Department of Politics and Society, then two years at Electronic Systems, Department of Mathematical Sciences, followed by 22 years at CS.
- I go back to the time when there were fields all around the university, and the Rector would do a tour and shake hands with the entire staff at Christmas. Things have really changed a lot since, she says.
Ulla has a diverse educational background and job experience: a trained shop assistant, au pair in the US, an HH graduate followed by an office education at the School of Technical Engineering in Aalborg, and a diploma in Public Administration.
Ulla’s internal administrative and secretarial duties cover everything study-related including the Study Board - and if you wish to know something about the Cassiopeia building, which office you are supposed to sit in, how to get a key and an access card and about a thousand other things, Ulla is the go-to-person.
EACH DAY BRINGS SOMETHING NEW
25 years may be a long time at the same workplace, but Ulla has no plans for a career move:
- Education in general and helping students out in particular have always been close at my heart, so it was not a difficult decision, when I was offered a position at CS. I’m really happy to be here, because each day brings something new, and with all the people that I am in contact with every day, it never gets boring, she says.
Ulla lives in Lindholm with her boyfriend, has two children and will often choose to spend her spare time on long walks and fitness.
