Please welcome David Kinnberg Hein, who joined the Department of Computer Science as a PhD student in the HCC group on August 15, 2022.
David Kinnberg Hein has a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in IT Design and Application Development, both from Aalborg University. Throughout the conduction of his Master’s thesis, he collaborated with an agile software team from Nykredit, where he examined the different roles' explanations to why project risks occur.
DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH AREA AND FOCUS
- My main focus will be on cyber security and risk management during software development to improve the security level of the developed product.
PROJECTS YOU ARE/WILL BE INVOLVED IN?
- I am participating in the Security by design (SB3D) project, which the Innovation Fund Denmark funds. The project aims to help small and medium-sized software companies enhance process security to ensure the software is as secure as possible when released to the customer. We are collaborating with the Alexandra Institute in Aarhus and DTU in Copenhagen, plus a number of industrial partners. My contribution to the project and focus will primarily be on the software development processes.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CONTINUE YOUR CAREER AT AALBORG UNIVERSITY?
- I was very interested in the topic and focus of this PhD project. Furthermore, I saw a meaningful connection between the project, the experiences I have gathered from my Master’s thesis, and the possibility of learning more about cybersecurity and Academia. I also appreciate that I am already acquainted with Aalborg University and the PBL way of thinking, as well as that I knew a few of my current colleagues in the HCC research group beforehand.
FUN AND OTHER FACTS?
- I don’t think you should run unless you’re being chased.
