RESEARCH AREA AND FOCUS
The main topic for my research is energy flexibility: In a nutshell, it is the possibility of shifting in time and amount the consumption of energy from certain types of devices. My Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are in Mathematics, so my research is mostly focused on creating/improving mathematical models for energy flexibility representation, optimization and aggregation, and algorithms for generating those models.
PROJECTS
I am currently involved in two projects: FEVER and domOS. FEVER aims to use flexibility in energy generation, consumption and storage for optimal grid management, while domOS has the purpose to build an IoT ecosystem for buildings, on which smart services (including energy flexibility) are developed. In my specific case, I am working on the extension and improvement of the FlexOffer model
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CONTINUE YOUR CAREER AT AALBORG UNIVERSITY?
I started doing research on energy flexibility during my PhD, also "formally" changing my area from Mathematics to Computer Science. I liked this experience and was hoping to continue doing research in this direction, and near the conclusion of my PhD I found this chance at Aalborg University. Also, I had a good impression about the city, country and university before coming here, and it has been completely confirmed during my staying.
PRIVATE/FUN FACTS
I enjoy both playing and watching football and I am a fan of Cagliari, my hometown team. I still enjoy playing video- and roleplay-table games when I have the chance to, and I have recently started dancing salsa and bachata. Finally, I loved taking part in mathematical competitions, and I still enjoy from the bottom of my heart solving this kind of problems!
