DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH AREA AND FOCUS
- I am interested in how people interact with Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems and what they need to use them effectively. There are many reasons why people under- or overuse AI systems, with trust being a major factor. I research these factors and want to provide users with the information they need to better understand AI systems and when to use them.
PROJECTS YOU ARE/WILL BE INVOLVED IN?
- I am involved in the “Algorithmic explainability for everyday citizens” project led by Niels van Berkel and funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. In this project we aim to make algorithmic decision-making more comprehensible to the general public. We want to provide citizens with the tools to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world and to engage in discussions about AI systems.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CONTINUE YOUR CAREER AT AALBORG UNIVERSITY?
- After finishing my master thesis, I was looking for a place to continue my research into algorithmic decision-making and trust in AI systems. The PhD project as described in the vacancy aligned really well with my research ideas and the interview process confirmed my suspicion that it would be a great fit.
FUN AND OTHER FACTS?
- I am passionate about music, like to visit concerts and play guitar. Apart from that I support the football club Ajax. I used to go to games regularly, but will have to support them from afar the coming years.
